CENTRALIA — A 26-year-old Fairview Heights man was arrested over the weekend by Centralia police for alleged possession of a firearm by a felon.
David Bacon, formerly of Centralia was reportedly sitting with another man in Laura Leake Park when Centralia police stopped to question them and discovered an outstanding St. Clair County warrant for Bacon’s arrest.
While taking Bacon into custody on the warrant, officers reportedly found a handgun in the waistband of his pants. He was taken to the Marion County Jail with bail on the new charge set at $25,000. Due to a previous conviction, if Bacon is found guilty of the new charge he faces 3 to 14 years in prison.
