FAYETTE COUNTY — The Fayette County Sheriff’s office, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshal’s Service, Homeland Security, Secretary of State Police, Department of Corrections, Vandalia, Altamont, St. Elmo, and Farina police departments arrested two men over the weekend on multiple charges.
According to reports, 23-year-old John M. Durbin, of Beecher City, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear in court, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, and an outstanding IDOC warrant. Additional charges are pending.
Also arrested was 30-year-old Derick Castic, of St. Elmo, on a warrant for failure to appear in court.
Rural Med provided support and Brownstown Fire provided a building for the law enforcement detail.
Castic and Durbin’s arrests come after Fayette County assisted Altamont PD and Homeland Security with the arrests last week of 38-year-old Corey Hatfill, 34-year-old Blane Traxler and 24-year-old Jeffrey Durbin on counts of possession of methamphetamine and possession of a hypodermic needle. Durbin was also arrested on an outstanding warrant charging failure to appear on an earlier charge of possession of meth.
Altamont police received an anonymous tip Thursday morning as to Durbin’s whereabouts and found him with the other two suspects.
