HAMILTON COUNTY — A 62-year-old Shawneetown man surrendered to authorities Monday in Saline County in connection with a sexual assault in Hamilton and Saline counties.

Rick R. Horton, a former foster parent, faces six class-X felony counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child in Saline County and an additional five class-X felony counts in Hamilton County.
According to Hamilton County State’s Attorney Justin Hood, the five counts he filed against Horton allege that the crimes were committed between 2006 and 2009 with three different victims.
Class X felonies are punishable by between 6 and 30 years in prison.
Horton will be formally charged Thursday in Hamilton County Court. He’s being held in the Saline County Jail with bail set at $500,000.
The case was investigated by the Illinois State Police.
