FARINA — Three people were injured early Sunday morning in a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 57 near Farina.
According to Illinois State Police, around 3:38 a.m. an SUV driven by 42-year-old Sandra Soto of Memphis, Tennessee, passed an Illinois Department of Transportation salt truck.
As she returned to the driving lane, Soto lost control of the vehicle, which slid off the road to the right, overturned and ended up on the driver’s side.
Soto was injured along with two passengers, 30-year-old Cristhian Antonio Ruiz Gordillo and 30-year-old Brenda Jazmin Garcia Martinez, both of Memphis. All three were taken to Salem Township Hospital for treatment.
Soto was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash and no valid insurance.
