GERMANTOWN — The Germantown Police Department is warning people of a possible phone scam in the area.

According to the police department, they’re receiving reports from local residents who have received phone calls asking for $400 money cards.
The CallerId shows the name of “Father Buerster”, who is a local priest. However, the call is NOT associated with either Father Jim Buerster or local churches – and is a phone scam.
The department says other calls are being received that show other local clergy names on CallerId and are asking for money cards.
These calls are not being made by or on behalf of area clergy or churches. If you receive such a call you are urged to hang up and contact your local law enforcement agency.
