The Illinois Department of Public Health on Wednesday announced 1,187 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 8 additional confirmed deaths.
Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 156,693 cases, including 7,226 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois.
As of Tuesday night, 1,454 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 324 patients were in the ICU and 130 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
Locally, Jefferson County health officials on Wednesday reported five new positive cases, bringing their total number of residents infected by the virus to 131, with 100 having been released from isolation, 17 remain in isolation and 17 have died.
The new cases include a woman in her 30s who is hospitalized with the virus, a woman in her 60s who is isolated at home, a man in his 70s who is isolated at home, a girl under the age of 13 who is isolated at home, and a man in his 50s who is hospitalized.
Three of the new positive cases contracted the virus through contact with another household member who was an active COVID case.
Clinton County is now reporting four new positive cases, bringing their total to 259, with 227 of those residents being released from isolation, 15 remain in quarantine and 17 have died.
Fayette County officials on Tuesday reported three new cases of coronavirus, bringing their total number of cases to 28, with 20 having recovered, five who remain in isolation, and three who have died.
The three new cases include two women in their 20s and a man in his 80s.
Marion County Public Health on Wednesday was still reporting a total of 82 cases, with 72 who have recovered and 10 people who remain in isolation at home.
Of those 82 cases, five are travel related, 32 are outbreak related and 43 were contracted from community transmission.
Washington County health officials continue to report 25 positive tests in county residents, with 23 having recovered and three remaining in isolation.
