The Marion County Health Department on Tuesday reported two more coronavirus-related deaths on Tuesday, as did Fayette County health officials.

The two deaths in Marion County were in a man in his 70s and a man in his 80s. Both were hospitalized at the time of their deaths and neither was a long-term care resident.

Their deaths bring the total number of COVID-19 fatalities in Marion County to 15.

In addition to the two deaths, the Marion County Health Department reported 23 new positive cases, bringing the total number of lab-confirmed cases of the virus in the county to 865, with 154 residents in isolation, including nine in the hospital of which two are on ventilators, and 696 have been released from isolation.

Of the new cases, 11 are community spread, 12 are household/close contacts, and one is a long term care resident.

Fayette County on Tuesday reported two new coronavirus-related deaths at a congregate living facility, bringing the total number of fatalities in that county to 21.

Health officials also reported 5 new lab-confirmed cases of the virus and two probable cases, bringing their total number of confirmed infections to 631, with 94 residents in isolation.

The Clinton County Health Department on Tuesday reported 27 new positive cases, with 242 residents currently on home isolation and eight who are hospitalized.

The Centralia Correctional Center is reporting 40 inmates and 10 staff who have tested positive for COVID-19 during the current outbreak.

Jefferson County on Wednesday reported 20 new lab confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing their total number of confirmed infections to 917, with 88 residents currently in isolation, 788 released from isolation and 44 who have died.
