MOUNT VERNON — Bail has been set at $30,000 for an 18-year-old Mt. Vernon man arrested early Sunday morning for allegedly breaking into a liquor store on Salem Road.
According to Mt. Vernon Police Chief Trent Page, around 2:20 a.m. Sunday his department was alerted to a burglar alarm activated at Times Square Liquor North.
The first officer arrived just over one minute later and upon arrival noticed Grant French nearby and that forced entry had been made to the building. A vehicle was also seen speeding from the scene when the officer arrived and items from inside the business were found outside the building.
Detectives and the K9 officer were called to the scene and French was taken into custody a short time later.
French was arraigned Monday on a charge of Class 2 felony burglary and his bail was set at $30,000. He was advised of the charge against him and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for October 18 with his court-appointed attorney.
