Ramona Kaye Ellis, 76, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 6:51 pm October 26, 2022 at her residence with her family by her side.

She was born August 30, 1946 in Mount Vernon to the late Verner E. and Marguerite Louise (Wood) Mays. Kaye married Virgil Austin Ellis in June 1979 in Woodlawn, Illinois. They were blessed with 42 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on June 27, 2021.  Kaye is survived by her sons, Jimmy Williams of Mount Vernon and Michael Williams of Woodlawn; sister, Phyllis Rightnowar of Mount Vernon; nieces, Kimberly Pond, Tammy Rightnowar, and Karla Harrison; sister-in-law, Judy Ellis; and family friend, Owen Buchanan. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, Kaye was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, Larry Rightnowar and Richard Ellis; and nephew, Richard “Rick” Ellis. Kaye was a faithful, lifelong member of Central Christian Church. She enjoyed baking in her spare time. Most of all, Kaye cherished the time she shared with her family. She will be deeply missed.

A Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 1, 2022 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Chapel in Woodlawn. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am with Mr. J. Howard Kraps officiating. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made in Kaye’s honor to Central Christian Church.
