BENTON, Ill. — A 34-year-old Benton man has been arrested on multiple charges, including predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.
According to Franklin County Sheriff Kyle Bacon, deputies received a report last weekend of a sex offense that may have happened in a rural part of the county and that a child was allegedly the victim.
Deputies with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office started investigating and then arrested Robert B. Hodges, of Benton on two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and unlawful violation of an order of protection charges.
He was taken to the Franklin County Jail with a bond set at $200,000.
The Franklin-Williamson Child Advocacy Center and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services assisted in the investigation.
Hodges is scheduled to next appear in court August 2, for a preliminary hearing in this case as well as a misdemeanor case filed earlier in the week accusing him of violating an order of protection. That order was issued Monday.
