CLAY COUNTY — A 54-year-old Flora man was sentenced Monday in Clay County Court to 17 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to drug-induced homicide.

Phillip B. Henson admitted in court Monday that on or about November 14, 2021, he knowingly delivered a substance containing fentanyl to Stephanie Harrell, who injected herself with the substance and died.

Drug-induced homicide is a Class X offense and Henson must serve 75 percent of his 17-year sentence.

Clay County State’s Attorney Phillip Givens said this was another case with multiple agencies working together. He noted that Stephanie’s family was also able to make statements in court Monday, and added that his office will continue to work hard towards the best interest of justice alongside a victim’s family.

Henson was on the run after removing a GPS monitor last August while awaiting trial in the case. US Marshals ultimately tracked him down and brought him back in January of this year.
