BENTON – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Rend Lake say Rend Lake Dam Road will be closed to traffic starting Monday and lasting until Sunday, Nov. 3 for major roadwork and necessary concrete repairs on the Spillway Bridge.

Engineers will be on site Monday morning at 8 for repairs on the concrete abutment on the Spillway Bridge.

Starting Monday, Oct. 21, roadwork will take place from the entrance of South Marcum Recreation Area to the Sugar Creek lot at the intersection of Mine 24 Road and Licata Road. This will include culvert repairs and road repaving. This is expected to be done by Nov. 3.  

From Monday through Sunday, Oct. 20 during the Spillway Bridge abutment repairs, campers and visitors to South Marcum Recreation Area (including South Marcum Boat Ramp, Shelter 9, Dale Miller Group Camp, and South Marcum Campground) can access these areas via Mine 24 road on the east side of the Rend Lake Dam.

From Monday, Oct. 21 through Sunday, Nov. 3 during the roadwork on Mine 24 road from South Marcum Recreation Area to Sugar Creek parking lot, campers and visitors to South Marcum Recreation Area (including South Marcum Boat Ramp, Shelter 9, Dale Miller Group Camp, and South Marcum Campground) can access these areas via Rend City Road and the Rend Lake Dam Road on the west side of the lake (near the Rend Lake Project Office/Visitor Center). During this time, Rend Lake Dam Road will remain closed to through traffic.

During these projects, there will not be access to River Road. Visitors can still access the Spillway Recreation Area, Dedication Lot, and the Rend Lake Bike Trail on the east side of the dam.
