Michael D. “Mike” Rich, 77, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 2:25 pm January 21, 2025 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon. He was born July 6, 1947 to the late Herman and Maurine (Wilson) Rich. Mike married Beatrice (Kollman) Rich on June 30, 1976 in Mount Vernon. They were blessed with 48 years of marriage.
In addition to his beloved wife, Mike is survived by his sons, Ron Lindsey, Dean Lindsey, and Jerry Lindsey, all of Lockport, Illinois; daughters, Tammy Rich of Joliet, Illinois and Sandy Feirn and husband, Bob of Lockport, Illinois; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Sharon Tschirhart of Boerne, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his son, Mike Rich; and siblings, Junior Smith, Charlie Smith, Terry Rich, Patsy McGarity, and Beverly Sloan.
Mike enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He was known as the “King of the Lawn Mower” because of his love for mowing grass.
A Visitation will be held Friday, January 24, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 10:00 am at Hughey Funeral Home with Reverend Russell Gaston officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon. Full Military Honors will be conducted at the cemetery. Memorials may be made in Mike’s honor to the charity of the donor’s choice.
