INA — A Sandoval man suffered non-life threatening injuries following a semi crash on southbound Interstate 57 near Ina Friday afternoon.
Illinois State Police say around 4:10 p.m., 54-year-old Steven W. Young was in the right lane going south at mile post 82 when witnesses saw the semi drift off the right side of the roadway.
Once off the roadway, the semi jackknifed with its trailer after striking a number of trees. Futher investigation revealed Young had a heart condition that contributed to the crash. Young was taken to a local hospital and then later flown to a regional hospital for treatment.
Southbound I-57 in this area was shut down for clean up and so the semi could be removed. Young was charged with improper lane usage and a log book violation.
