CENTRALIA — A 21-year-old Hoyleton woman was arrested in Centralia over the weekend for felony battery to a police officer and on an outstanding Marion County warrant.

Nikkita Campbell reportedly walked off with the keys to a Centralia home, after becoming upset with how a man at the home was being treated by EMTs after he suffered a seizure.

When Campbell locked the house, however, the EMT crew’s computer was still inside, and when police questioned her at the hospital about the keys she denied having them, but when officers reportedly saw her with the keys later she allegedly refused to give them the keys and they had to be taken from her.

A search of Campbell’s name subsequently revealed the outstanding warrant for her arrest and as an officer was attempting to get the pregnant woman into the back of the squad car she allegedly kicked the officer multiple times and attempted to spit on another officer.

She was taken directly to the Marion County Jail and was charged Tuesday in Marion County Court with Class 2 felony aggravated battery to a peace officer. Campbell’s bail was set at $20,000 and she is next scheduled in court for a November 1 preliminary hearing..
