FAYETTE COUNTY — The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that the Eastbound entrance ramp from U.S. 51 to Interstate 70 at Vandalia will be closed beginning Monday, October 17 to complete work in conjunction to the Kaskaskia River Bridge.

Beginning on Monday, the entrance ramp from U.S. 51 on to eastbound I-70 will be closed to remove the temporary ramp constructed for the work associated with the construction of the new Kaskaskia River Bridge.

The ramp will be closed all week and is scheduled to be re-opened by Friday evening. During this time traffic will be detoured along U.S. 40.

Once this work is complete, the eastbound structure will be re-opened and I-70 traffic will be re-routed from the crossovers back to the eastbound lanes.

Plocher Construction Company Inc. is the prime contractor and Doug Holland is the Resident Engineer for the Department of Transportation.

Please slow down and use extreme caution while driving through all work zones.
