MURPHYSBORO — Police in Murphysboro are investigating a shooting incident reported early this morning.
According to the Murphysboro Police Department, the shooting took place around 1:30 on 20th Street and Shoemaker Drive.
Police have closed off an area on 20th Street between Apple and Shomaker Drive, and a portion of 20th Street, from about Shomaker to Clay Street, is closed to traffic as the investigation continues.
No word yet on if anyone was injured.
Police say they are following all leads but do not feel there is a danger to the public at this time.
Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigators and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department are assisting with the investigation.
