FAYETTE COUNTY — In an effort to address childhood trauma, the Juvenile Justice Council of the Fourth Judicial District is holding a workshop in Fayette County to discuss the creation of a trauma initiative.
The Fourth Judicial Circuit covers nine counties, including Christian, Clay, Clinton, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, Marion, Montgomery, and Shelby counties.
The JJC recognizes that children who commit crimes and are truant from school are often the victims of abuse and neglect and the JJC has chosen to focus its efforts on addressing childhood trauma.
They need the public’s help in this effort, and working with all entities and organizations that touch the lives of children, they are looking for the community to come together to create a strategic plan to become trauma informed.
The workshop will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., November 30th at the Fayette County Courthouse in the Lincoln Room.
