CENTRALIA — A 23-year-old Mt. Vernon man was arrested Tuesday night in Central City, after allegedly running from a retail store without paying for a cell phone.
David M. Graves was ultimately apprehended at a nearby gas station after employees of the Dollar General Store in Central City called police to say Graves ran from the store without paying for a cell phone he took from the shelf.
Graves was formally charged this morning in Marion County Court with Class 4 felony theft of displayed merchandise worth less than $300 and with misdemeanor resisting police.
Centralia police assisted with Graves’ arrest. He reportedly resisted officer’s who had located him at the Citgo gas station in Central City where he was ultimately arrested.
