Dustin Charles Howell was charged Monday in Marion County Court with Class 3 felony theft under $500. He was arrested Sunday, just hours after he allegedly entered Fay’s Place, formerly Bear’s Package Liquor on Green Street, indicated he had a weapon and demanded money. He was reportedly given cash and he then fled the scene on foot.

Police were unable to immediately locate the subject. But upon viewing video surveillance, police tentatively identified the subject as Howell. An anonymous tip later supported an officer’s identification of Howell as the subject.

Central City and Sandoval police officers, along with Marion County Sheriff’s deputies located Howell in Sandoval.

Central City Police Sgt. Nick Heath says while at that location, Howell’s girlfriend arrived and they were both taken in for questioning, where it was determined the girlfriend was not involved. Howell reportedly admitted to the robbery. He has been released from the Marion County Jail.
